International System of Units

SI is the modern metric system of physical quantities that gained world-wide approval.

Its advantages are universality and coherence. The system is based on three main measurement units: meter, kilogram and second. It comprises seven basic and two secondary units. Nowadays it is used almost in every country in the world in commerce and in science.
