A report by a Promwad manager won the audience choice award at the Seventh International Conference of Developers and Users of Free/Open Source Software, LVEE 2011, which was held near Grodno between June 30 and July 3.
The report came just one vote behind the winning entry, which dealt with software protection from DDoS attacks.
Ivan Kuten, head of Promwad's R&D department who participates in all LVEE conferences, told the delegates about the development of the IP-Plug miniserver based on Linux Debian 6.0. SOHO networks are the main area of application for the new device. IP-Plug allows users to:
- Set up WiFi access points and connect to existing WiFi networks
- Create Internet gateways, including those offering priority access
- Connect external media and file servers with LAN and WAN access options
- Connect network printers and scanners
- Provide backup services
- Create DLNA servers
Ivan Kuten also described the typical design of plug computers, including SheevaPlug, GuruPlug, DreamPlug and IonicsPlug. |
