The Second Digital Electronics Developers Forum, DEDF-2011, took place in Moscow on March 3. This major event for technology experts brought together 115 participants including auditors and speakers representing Russian and Belarusian companies. The Forum’s central theme was Practical Applications of Systems-on-chip in Multimedia and Portable Electronics.

DEDF-2011 was organized by the Promwad Innovation Company and MT System, an electronic components distributor. The Elektronika Media Group, the general sponsor of the event, provided extensive information support for the Forum. Those who were not able to come to the conference hall could follow the sessions online. The Forum was broadcast in real time through TeleMarker technical support.
DEDF was traditionally held as a conference featuring general analytical reports in the plenary session and practical illustrations in hardware and software development in two themed sections. The major topics of the conference were:
- Project management in electronics development;
- Competition at the domestic electronics market and access to foreign markets;
- STB development and production launch in Russia and South-East Asia;
- Practical application of mobile processors by Texas Instruments, Marvell and Samsung.
Special attention should be given to presentations which unveiled original solutions or the latest news in the world of electronics. A representative of Texas Instruments told the conference participants about the new platform which will be officially announced as early as in a few months' time. A programming engineer from the Module Technology Research Center discussed in his presentation the first Russian digital TV system-on-chip (Linux-based). Promwad experts introduced the DEDF participants to a number of original applications of components and technologies:
- Development of advertizing multimedia panels (Digital Signage) based on the S3C6410 mobile processor by Samsung;
- Development of a time synchronizer based on the GLONASS navigation system.
For over two years, Promwad has been working to promote the DEDF project and gather around it a community of creative developers and technology experts driven by thirst for innovation and continuous training and actively engaged in experience exchange with their colleagues. The organizer of the event seeks to make DEDF as open and independent as possible. Both the first and the second forums charged no fee for participation, all the speakers were given speaking time and all mass media representatives were provided equal access to the event.
We would like to remind you that the first Developers Forum was held by Promwad in Minsk in 2009. The DEDF-2009 general sponsor was the Interfax-West information agency. The event involved a total of over 100 people and 34 organizations.
The Promwad innovation Company expects to continue this series of practical conferences for developers. They will be held annually in major cities of the CIS and EU countries. We hope that the Digital Electronics Developers Forum will make a meaningful contribution to uniting leading developers worldwide and help them compare their developments with their foreign colleagues’ work as well as become part of the global innovation projects.
