At the 10th International exhibition "Amusement Rides and Entertainments RAAPA 2008", dedicated to the amusement industry in Russia, held in Moscow, 9-11 April 2008, a new model of interactive 4D movie-theatre was shown. Game platform was developed by Promwad Innovation Company by the order of "The Planet of Attractions Ltd".
Exteriorly, the attraction represents a mini movie-theatre that accommodates up to eight people. The seats are mounted on a movable platform capable of motion into six coordinate planes. Each spectator's seat is equipped with built-in acoustic system reproducing movements, vibrations and other actions, which create unique impressions and participation effect. Polarized glasses are used to form a 3D-picture transmitted by video projector.
 For calculation of space coordinates and control actions on platform motor, Promwad specialists developed a motor controller based on Blackfin BF532 processor from Analog Devices, Inc.. To control the motion it was necessary to re-calculate space coordinates of platform's position into motor rotation angles that required a great quantity of resource-intensive trigonometric calculations. The performance of ADSP-BF532 processor was sufficient enough to solve the tasks connected with complex geometrical calculations. The optimal ratio of chip's price and production capacities was of some importance as well. Moreover, the choice of processor is based on simplicity of connecting analog-to-digital converter and digital-to-analog converter microchips. AD7908 analog-to-digital converter from Analog Devices, Inc. is used to enter data from six sensors about platform's position in space, and AD8801 digital-to-analog converter forms the control signal for ButtKicker low-frequency audio converter.
The developed platform is mainly designed for children and teenagers, but it would be also interesting for other age groups as well. It is suggested to locate 4D movie-theatre as part of different amusement complexes, movie-theatres, museums, shopping centres, etc.
On the whole, the introduced system can be applied in other spheres of human activities, such as systems of mechanism accurate positioning, various vehicle driver trainers etc.
According to the opinion of exhibition participants, the introduced 4D movie-theatre was one of the most spectacular events at the exhibition. The project aroused lively interest and lots of positive comments.
