Anton Tonkovich, a Promwad expert in digital TV technologies, contributed an article to Tele-Sputnik Magazine on the over-the-air update of STB software. The material was published in the ninth September edition.
When creating a commercial DVB digital TV network, operators are faced with the task of updating the software (SW) of set-top box receivers. The new article discusses the general principles and practical implementation of remote SW update (OTA service), using the example of one of the DVB-C cable television operators.
Special software broadcast_update was used in the project to run updates. It is operated by a Linux-based OS (can be compiled for Windows) and controlled through the command line interface.
