Promwad adds GPS / GLONASS functions in firmware for devices based on Linux

A team of Promwad engineers continues their contributions to open source software development. So, at the initiative of our Linux specialist the package GPSD was added to the main repository of the buildroot project. Thanks to this buildroot extension users can form firmware package based on Embedded Linux with support of various GPS / GLONASS receivers.

GPSD is a special service for Linux and other UNIX-like operating systems, which allows programs to interact with one or more GPS receivers, connected to the system, providing information on movement of the device (via TCP-port 2947, working with NMEA/binary- data). As we reported earlier, Promwad engineers made some improvements to the software package GPSD on results of the tests with combined GPS / GLONASS navigation receivers GeoS-1M and NAVIOR-24.
