Summary of Promwad participation in Embedded Systems Conference

Publishing House Elektronika has organized The 1st All-Russian Embedded Systems Conference. This event took place in Moscow on 4th December, 2008.

Over 100 technical experts and top-managers from the leading Russian and foreign manufacturing enterprises and embedded systems development companies took part in the forum.

During the plenary meeting Roman Pakholkov, Promwad Company CEO, has represented report on advantages and risks of embedded systems development on contract base. The audience was interested in the situation on the market of contract electronics design that is taken at the moment in Russia and CIS countries. The questions that were brought up were related to the opportunities of growth in terms of current financial situation in Europe and USA.

According to the opinion of conference organizers Committee the report presented by Sergei Pukhaev, Head of Software Development Department, Promwad, was one of the most interesting for the audience. His message was focused on application of Linux OS in embedded systems, its advantages and difficulties of usage. The report caused vivid debates among the conference participants.

The second part of the conference consisted of two thematic sections: Industrial Automation. Management of Geographically Distributed Objects and On-board Embedded Systems (rail transport, motor transport, aviation and space, military industry). Evgeni Dubovik, Project Manager, Promwad, took part in the second thematic section and presented a report on the topic of Software design for auto electronics. Requirements. Standards. Recommendations. Review of operating systems. It should be noted that despite the subject of the report was narrow it found positive response from participants and organizers of the event.

The abstracts of the reports are published in specialized booklet of the conference.

Throughout the event there were organized open static comparative tests of embedded GLONASS / GPS modules, produced by Russian manufactures. The results of this experiment can be found in the first issue of Embedded Systems magazine that will be issued first at beginning of 2009.
