Promwad Reports on Participation in Exhibition-Conference EmbeddedWorld 2009

Short description of Promwad Innovation Company during the plenary report “Overview of Electronics Market in Russia”
On March, 5th there ended the biggest in Europe exhibition devoted to embedded systems – Embedded World 2009 – held in Nuremberg, Germany. Promwad Innovation Company together with Publishing House Elektronika took active part in the exhibition.

One of the results of successful cooperation with Publishing House Elektronika was the publishing of a specialized catalogue of Russian companies Intelligent Solutions from Russia, which was distributed among guests and participants of the exhibition. We are glad to mention that the central place in this catalogue was dedicated to services and projects of Promwad Innovation Company.

On the first exhibition day there opened the forum devoted to questions of development of the market of embedded systems. One of the first reports was Ivan Pokrovski – General Manager of Publishing House Elektronika with an overview of electronics market in Russia. The company's representative – Ivan Kuten – supplemented the report by covering questions of contract development and embedded operating systems.

During the three days of the exhibition we held a range of business negotiations with representatives of foreign companies – both new companies and constant partners of Promwad Innovation Company. Meeting them in person allowed us to demonstrate capabilities of Promwad Innovation Company, level and quality of completed projects and answer all questions arising from participants of negotiations.

Our participation in the Exhibition-Forum EmbeddedWorld2009 allowed us to determine how companies are presented in the market of embedded systems by having divided them by their primary business spheres and geographical location and also to define the main probable directions of this market development.

So, in comparison with the previous year, the number of participants increased by 4% and made up 704 participants from 31 countries. The number of visitors decreased somewhat if compared with the record 2008 year and made up 15800. On the whole, the exhibition showed quite good results in dynamics of its development.

If last year the most popular topic of the exhibition were different displays (LED, OLED, TFT, e-Ink), but this year the main focus of the exhibition was automotive electronics and its application. A great number of German service companies working and providing services in automotive industry were represented at the exhibition.

Semiconductor vendors were not behind them – they presented microcontrollers and processors designed for industrial and automotive application. Still popular were various industrial computers, boards, COM (computers on module) on the basis of x86 architecture with Inter Atom, Core Duo processors. Many vendors were presented on joint stands with the suppliers of electronic components: Avnet-Memec, EBV Electronik, MEV Electronik, Ineltek, GLYN, Sasco.

Unfortunately, this year the exhibition failed to bring happiness to participants and visitors of exhibition with new stunning developments. But despite that fact, we would like to mention some novelties and announcements that developers of electronics might find very interesting:
  • ARM announced Cortex-M0 processor core, the lowest consuming from the entire family;
  • PLDA presented reference-design with the support of USB 3.0 standard;
  • The promotion of Microsoft Auto platform by Microsoft;
  • Open Source Automation Development Lab (OSADL) organized a number of stands, where wide range of companies, that use Linux in Open Source, were represented.
Promwad Innovation Company expresses its gratitude to Publishing House Elektronika for their help in preparing our company to the exhibition. The first joint cooperation of such scope showed very good results and we hope that this kind of cooperation will be further developed in the future.
