At the end of September, on the banks of the Nyoman river, the final race “Stary Nyoman” was held within the “Promwad Tour ‘08” Adventure Races Cup

The series of races was started with “Udra” adventure rogaining, which took place on 24-25 May 2008 and united 94 recreationists making about 50 teams.

On 28-29 June 2008, in Krupki region, the second race was held under the name "Velikoye Boloto", in which more than 100 recreationists took part.

On 20-21 September 2008, on the banks of the Nyoman, close to the town of Novogrudok, the third final race of the season took place. The organizers decided to make this event special, different from previous races. They laid emphasis on the historical aspect. It was felt from the very beginning, when an ancient Scotch pastime – beam throwing – was chosen for the prologue. The recreationists found out that showing good results in such a “delicate” business is impossible without kilts.

The next reference to history became an unexpected surprise for the participants. They had to get their bearings by old Polish maps of the beginning of the 20th century. Objects from the past could be easily confused with their contemporary analogues and this caused a long rambling through the area. In spite of this, many teams sized up the organizer’s sense of humor.

After the “hot” historical stage, the recreationists got a possibility to dismount and restrain their ardor by walking around and enjoying the amenity of nature. Biker’s love for flora and fauna is known pretty well, that’s why the organizers gave them the unique opportunity to reunite with nature during many kilometers walk.

Then the participants had to take their bikes again and find the way to the next point, which was one more historical “trick” – a ferry. Not long ago, a ferry that united two villages really existed there. Thus, our travelers got to the other bank of the Nyoman where the trail-running stage took place. The teams rushed through the forest bush at full speed, trying to escape dried branches and other traps of nature. After that they returned the other bank by the same ferry. Indeed, the “intercourse” with water wasn’t over for them…

The teams moved from one control point to another by bikes until they came to the rafling stage. There their knowledge and experience got in previous races proved to be useful. The recreationists had to build the rafls by own strength using just car tires. For sure, now they have adventures to tell their grandchildren about!

After passing all stages, the participants set out on the final journey to the finishing post. In fact, crossing the finishing line didn’t mean the end of the race, and here the connection with history was appealed again. The captains had to have an archery tournament. They operated a classical bow from 15-meters distance and had to hit the target at least 4 times of 6 attempts. The rest of teams watched this attraction with sinking hearts because in case of miss they had to ride 1.5 km through a very relief cross-country and at the same time not to let their rivals pass forward. It was very pleasant to observe the sincere joy, which appeared on the participants’ faces each time when their captain hit the target.

Only after the “prize circles” that affected all teams, the participants finally came to the long-awaited finish.

In 2009, we expect new amazing outdoor activities with the customary support of Promwad company.
