Mobile WiMAX Technology in Promwad’s Custom Engineering Design

Mobile WiMAX technology is used for mobile applications. It breaks into the world market of consumer electronics and becomes popular in Russia and CIS countries. However, industry experts consider that there are some limiting factors that impede the growth of subscriber member networks. The reasons for these are the scarcity of end-user devices equipped with WiMAX adapter and the high cost of last.

Promwad Design Center takes up the challenge of the market and its customer requests for consumer electronic devices design equipped with WiMAX functionality. The company has started several projects on development of high tech portable end-user products that support wireless communications standard IEEE 802.16e (MobileWiMAX). Promwad has held negotiations and signed technology partnership agreements with the main WiMAX integrated circuit vendors, such as Intel, Samsung, Sequans, Fujitsu.

The main suppliers of consumer products that use Mobile WiMAX are telecom service providers. The leadership in providing wireless mobile services based on Mobile WiMAX in Russia belongs to Yota and Comstar. This summer Mobile WiMAX network runs in Russia. In the next five years, says Yota, WiMAX-network will cover Belarus. Yota Bel devision is in charge of this mission.
