On 23—25 March 2010 in London an international forum in the field of broadcasting and telecommunications technologies IPTV World Forum London was held. Promwad Design Center took part in the exhibition. This year the company demonstrated custom developed reference design of DVB-T/IPTV/HD set-top box for MPEG-2/4 H.264. This STB was shown at the booth of SmartLabs LLC, the Promwad Company’s partner and the market leader of software platforms providing IPTV services in Russia.

The reference design was developed by Promwad electronic product engineers and is intended for rapid prototyping of STB-products.

The hardware platform is based on STi7167 processor from STMicroelectronics. The product has the following advantages and features:

• minimal number of components allowing to reduce the cost of production;
• high Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI);
• Qt graphic library;
• friendly user interface (UI);
• USB 2.0, SATA to play music, photo and video;
• digital video recorder functions (DVR).

The middleware package for managing IPTV services was designed by SmartLabs LLC and installed in the demo showcase of the reference design.

In conclusion, it is worth saying that DVB-T/IPTV/HD set-top box has attracted attention of big European chip vendors and service providers.
