A Study of the Samsung Processor Family for Components and Technologies
Viktor Nikonov, an engineer from Promwad, made a systematic review of the Samsung family of mobile processors and presented his findings in his new article written for Components and Technologies Magazine. Electronics developers will find information extremely useful because it will help them quickly browse through a great diversity of these popular systems-on-chips with varied characteristics and make the right choice for a specific project.
In addition to pictorial diagrams that show the evolutionary development of Samsung chips, the author also includes a description of the existing development kits, both original solutions and third-party vendor products, such as the SMDK and SMRP hardware platforms, the Idea6410 development board based on the S3C6410 processor, etc. All these tools, combined with free information from open source projects and a Russian-language technical support center for Samsung processors, form a reliable base for developing electronic products. This has been proven true by the practices of leading companies and data from analytic studies. According to Gartner, Samsung Electronics is the leader at the market of mobile phone application processors. Based on the 2009 financial data, its sales have doubled, while its market share has reached 39.2 per cent.
You can find more information about this in the article in the seventh edition of Components and Technologies (written in Russian).
