On November 1—3, 2011, Promwad is to unveil its new projects at the competition, The Best Electronics and Microelectronics Products 2010-2011, which is part of the Russian Week of Electronics. Exhibitors and visitors will be shown the latest developments by national engineers.
Promwad, one of the leading independent design centers in Eastern Europe, nominates devices, based on the latest technologies, for different markets: IP Plug mini server by AK-Systems, AKT-1100, a thin client by AK-Systems (SOHO), a vehicle navigation and communication device and an onboard vehicle data logger (navigation and electronics).
IP plug mini server by AK Systems: Russia's first plug computer
The new product is designed for a wide range of applications in IP-based networks and can replace more expensive devices. The Plug Computer runs on the Marvell Kirkwood processor (1 GHz) and is operated by Linux Debian. It is powered from a domestic 220 V network and has low power consumption.
A distinctive feature of the product is a wide choice of interfaces (USB, WiFi, Ethernet and Bluetooth) and support for various network protocols (DLNA, FTP, SMB). A good arrangement of plug components enabled the creation of a server in a small form factor as well as provided the required cooling and electrostatic safety.
Promwad experts developed a hardware platform and the product’s enclosure. The project customer is AK-Systems. Target markets for plug computers include: telecommunications and other types of communications, telemetry, mini servers for different purposes, used for SOHO (Small Office / Home Office).
Android-powered vehicle navigation and communication device Shturmann®
It is a 5-inch device with a touch screen for mobile communication in the hands free mode, as well as development of the best route, taking into account traffic congestion and data transfer in 3G networks. The product’s special feature is simultaneous operation of two global positioning systems, GLONASS and GPS, which reduces the number of dead zones and facilitates navigation in urban centers with multi-storey buildings.
This vehicle navigator is powered by Android 2.2, which provides users with hundreds of thousands of additional applications for games, video, eBooks, etc.
The device is equipped with Shturmann® navigation software, which is oriented to the usage of additional online services such as:
- routing in consideration of load on the roads
- view of actual prices for gasoline
- online search for objects
- display of friends on the map
- current information about holes, cameras and other objects on the road
This is a turnkey development project by Promwad experts. The project customer is GeoStar Navigation Design Office.
Thin client AKT-1100 by AK-Systems
It is a computer based on the Marvell Sheeva (2 GHz) and running Debian Linux 6.0, which transfers major processes of working with data to a remote server. It uses different methods for data protection (security system agents, Java and Security Token hardware keys) and thus can be used in various fields: banking, retail sales, business offices, etc.
The user receives virtually all PC functionality in a device made in a compact form factor, with passive cooling. These features include: an external high-resolution display (1600 px), 5xUSB 2.0, WiFi, Bluetooth, 2xGigabit Ethernet, DVI, etc. The full package weighs not more than 300 grams.
The development of this device was a turnkey project by Promwad engineers. The project customer is AK-Systems.
Onboard Data Logger
The Linux-based Onboard Vehicle Data Logger is a kind of a car black box, a portable device for gathering, storing and transmitting information about the vehicle’s route (based on GPS data). In addition, the device records conversations in the passenger compartment and performs technical diagnostics.
The device can be used in vehicles with OBD-II support (it is supported by all models released after 1996). Applications: monitoring a rental car park; monitoring vehicles used in forwarding companies; parental control for vehicles in family use, etc.
This device was developed by Promwad experts at the order of a North American customer.
All these devices are nominated for Golden Chip, an independent award instituted in 2004, which is given to the best companies specializing in the development, production and distribution of electronics. |
