From the 26th to 28th of October the Czech capital was hosting participants of the first LinuxCon Europe combined with the Embedded Linux Conference Europe (ELCE), the Linux Kernel Summit and the GStreamer Developers Conference. The total number of participants exceeded 500 people; among them was Ivan Kuten, the head of the Promwad R&D Department.
The schedule of these conferences was rather tight: 8 parallel sessions of reports. LinuxCon Europe 2011 began with the opening words by Jim Zemlin, executive director of Linux Foundation, he was talking about a hypothetical world without Linux (the title of his report is Imagine a world without Linux). Then discussion about Linux Kernel was held by Linux creator Linus Torvalds.
Further reports were divided into sections. We note several interesting presentations from ELCE, where participants usually discuss Linux in embedded systems:
- Another Mile Down the RT Road by Thomas Gleixnerfrom Linutronix
- Embedded Linux Optimization Techniques: How Not To Be Slow by Benjamin Zoresfrom Alcatel-Lucent
- Using Qt For Non-Graphical Applications by Thomas Petazzonifrom Free Electrons
- Linux for In-Car Infotainmen by Matt Jonesfrom Jaguar Land Rover
