FPGA Design

Programmable logic devices (PLD) are usually used in rapid prototyping of electronic components and integrated circuits. For example, leading processor and systems-on-chip manufacturers simulate system behavior using VHDL or Verilog hardware description languages and implementing chip prototype in FPGA.

The key advantage of FPGA is an ability to reconfigure (reprogram) logic cells, thus targeting a specific application and task. While improving FPGA performance and lowering power consumption, FPGA becomes popular in hardware designs as a hardware accelerator for applications and algorithms that operate with large amount of data. Our hardware engineers use the following components from Xilinx and Altera:

  • FPGA Xilinx Spartan2, Spartan3
  • FPGA Xilinx Virtex-EM,Virtex-II, Virtex-II Pro
  • FPGA Altera FLEX10K
  • FPGA Altera Stratix-II
  • CPLD Xilinx XC9500
  • CPLD Xilinx CoolRunner-II
  • CPLD Altera MAX-II, MAX 7000

IP (Intellectual Property) cores are logical blocks written in VHDL or Verilog, used complex multicomponent designs. Many companies offer tested, ready-to-use IP cores, which implement various algorithms and interfaces.

We have the following IP cores developed:

  • PCI Master, PCI Slave
  • VME
  • ISA
  • LPC
  • SDRAM, DMA controller
  • SPI, I2C, UART
  • Ethernet
  • USB
  • CAN
  • Image and video processing algorithms
  • Signal processing algorithms: filtering, crypting, interpolation
